Rock Hops Beertography Contest

Hey now! As you may or may not already be aware, myself and the illustrious beer writer extrodinaire John Holl are curating the craft beer list for a beer & music festival called Rock Hops. It's taking place Saturday August 11th in Mercer County Park, NJ and features music by Dark Star Orchestra, Bernie Worrell, Quimby Mountain Band, Citizens Band Radio and Lucid. Doors for this all-day Music Jam open at 1:30pm.

What beers might John and myself have selected you ask? Well, take a look at the list here! But this is a celebration of not just awesome craft beer, but also American music. There's even going to be seminars on the beer/music connection by John Holl and Jeff Cioletti of Beverage World Magazine!

But what fun would it be if we didn't have a Beertography Contest where you could win VIP tickets? Of course we'll do that! We want to see your beertography combined with what you think represents American music. Be as creative as possible.

Want to enter? Here's what you do:

1. Like Rock Hops on Facebook.
2. Take some awesome beertography that also includes something/someone/somewhere that you think defines American music.
3. Post your photo to Facebook and tag Rock Hops Facebook wall as well as the Beertography Facebook page.

It's that simple! We'll keep the contest open until next Friday July 27th at 4pm EST. From there, we'll pick our favorite as well as a runner up. The winner will receive 2 VIP tickets (a $130 value) to the Rock Hops American Music & Craft Beer Tasting. The Runner up will receive 2 All-Day Rock passes. Details on both are below.

TIME TO VOTE! Memorial Day Weekend Contest FInalists Selected

beers at the Crescent City Brewhouse in NOLA

It's voting time people! I was going to pick my favorite 5 #beertography entries from Memorial Day Weekend but I got so many awesome photos I decided to go with seven. Head on over to our Facebook Page and use the Like button to pick your favorite. You can vote for more than one if you really want to, but try to only pick your absolute favorite!

At 3pm EST on Friday, we'll stop the vote counting and whoever's photo has the most likes will win a nice little prize from my stash.

Twitter #beertography Contests

Last Friday I decided to try something new. Via Twitter I announced a mini #beertography contest to anyone who wanted to participate. Most of us are drinking beers on a Friday evening anyway right? Why not take a photo and have a chance at winning while you're at it? The prize in this mini-contest was a round on me. Yup. Simple but always welcomed, right? You can't argue with a free beer. As long as you have a PayPal account (doesn't everyone these days?) I'll send you a few bucks to cover your next round wherever you buy it.

The winning photo that evening (above) came from Jed all the way from New Zealand! Nice work Jed! His entry was a glass of Rogers beer in the Little Creatures Brewery in Freemantle, Australia. Pretty cool! And quite the drool-inducing photo.

I'll probably do this type of contest again at some point, so keep your eyes peeled and be sure to follow me on twitter. And don't forget to tag your photo with #beertography!

Troegs Beertography Contest Deadline is Tonight!

The time is nigh! At 11:59pm EST tonight, the Troegs Beertography Contest will officially close. We've received some great entries, but if you haven't submitted yet you now have just about 12 hours left to do so. So get to it! Here's a recap of the rules and prizes:

- All submissions must be emailed to with the subject line Beertography Contest before 11:59pm on Thursday March 1st.

- All photo submissions must somehow feature Troegs in order to be considered. We're looking for a combination of most creative along with best photography here. Please Note: Your photo submission does NOT have to feature Nugget Nectar. It can feature any of the Troegs beers, the brewery, etc.

- You can enter as many photos as you'd like.

People's Choice - Troegs will choose their ten favorite photos and upload them to Facebook. The photo with the most likes wins the Nugget Nectar Prize Pack.

Brewer's Choice - Troegs will select their favorite photo and I will send the winner a Troegs glass, magnet and keychain.

Best in Beertography - I will pick my favorite submission and send them a Troegs t-shirt.

Any questions? Feel free to email me. Good luck!

Troegs Contest Update - Triple the Prizes!

I hope everyone has been taking photos of some awesome Troegs beer! We've already received quite a few submissions, but if you've been putting it off I just want to remind you that you only have another week to get your entries in. I also wanted to make an exciting announcement and clarify a few things.

So as you have seen, this contest will be in the hands of the Facebook fans of Troegs as the winner will be determined by the most Likes received. However, I have decided to donate TWO more prizes for TWO additional winners bringing the grand total to three. Here's how it's going to work:

People's Choice - This is what we already outlined, Troegs will choose their ten favorite photos and the one with the most likes wins the Nugget Nectar Prize Pack.

Brewer's Choice - Troegs will select their favorite photo and I will send the winner a Troegs glass, magnet and keychain.

Best in Beertography - I will pick my favorite submission and send them a Troegs t-shirt.

Ok, now to clarify a few lingering questions:

  • You must email your submissions to to be considered.
  • You can enter as many photos as you'd like.
  • The photo needs to feature Troegs in some way in order to be considered. In the original post I said it needed to feature Troegs Brewery which may have been confusing. We accept any entries involving Troegs beer, the brewery, logo, etc.
Got it? Now there are three ways to win, so go get your camera now and get to taking some Troegs Beertography! Go on, get!
