March Beertographer of the Month - @thebeerhaul

Congrats to Wes aka @thebeerhaul on winning the illustrious title of March Beertographer of the Month. For those keeping score at home, there are now only eight more slots left in this year's inaugural Beertographer of the Year competition. It feels like 2014 is flying by!

Starting today we've begun accepting entries for our April Beertographer of the Month. Don't forget you need to use the hashtag #AprilBOTM. Feel free to mention @beertography too.

So now without further ado, we salute Wes on the win and let him ascend the throne until the April Beertographer of the Month is crowned! Don't forget to check out The Beer Haul on Facebook as well as on Instagram!

Photography has been my profession since 2007 and has included weddings, portraits, photojournalism, and travel photography. About a year and half ago I came across the work of Mike Donk of Brew Bokeh and Michael Kiser of Good Beer Hunting. Their photographic approach to craft beer inspired me to do something similar. I started The Beer Haul with the goal to document breweries in a sort of behind the scenes/day in the life style and to shoot quality bottle shots. I don't do any of it for financial gain but to produce something that I hope the craft beer community will enjoy. Thanks to the Beertography community here for voting for my photo. I hope you enjoy the rest of my work and I hope to bring you more photos of your favorite beers and breweries in the future. Cheers!

Beertography 5th Anniversary Winner & Other Updates

If you've been paying close attention on Twitter, you saw that Beertography recently celebrated it's 5th Anniversary. To celebrate, we threw a contest! Shocker right? As always we got a lot of great entries but one stood out. The above photo was taken by @JonAlfield whom if you've been following Beertography then you know that not only is he a great beertographer but he's also the winner of the recent Shmaltz Beertography Contest and gets a private tour and sampling at Shmaltz's brewery in New York! Pretty awesome stuff. Jon's on a streak. A #Beertography Shirt is coming his way. Congrats Jon!

February Beertographer of the Month - @BeardBeerBard

Congrats to Eric aka @BeardBeerBard on being crowned February Beertographer of the Month! There are now only NINE more slots remaining for the rest of the year! Remember in December we'll have a throwdown with all previous 11 winners from January through November. It's going to be something!

Starting today we've begun accepting entries for our March Beertographer of the Month. This time around, we're going to use a specific hashtag to make things easier: #MarchBOTM. If you'd like to include #beertography and mention @beertography, that's great too, but it must include the #MarchBOTM hashtag to be counted!

So for the rest of February, we salute BeardBeerBard and his excelent beertography skills. See below for a little bio and some of his favorite shots. Be sure to follow him on Twitter and congratulate him on the win!

I grew up in the country about an hour south of Charlotte, NC in a town called Waxhaw. I've lived in a couple of places along the East Coast but ultimately settled back into the place where I grew up in a log house out in the woods. Living out here lends itself to great photo opportunities (except sunsets, you don't see sunsets in the woods).
I started taking photography seriously about 10 years ago and started taking pictures of beer for fun back in 2008. I've long been a craft beer fan and being able to combine my love for photography and love for beer seemed like the right thing to do. I have some of my work posted over at
I often work with my friend Daniel Hartis of on projects (really just an excuse to drink good beer) such as his book Charlotte Beer: A History of Brewing in the Queen City as well as his latest book Beer Lover's the Carolinas. It was after the first book that I found @beertography and even the new term beertography and really started to follow the community that was fostered by the #beertography hashtag.
Many thanks to John and this community and the entertainment it brings me.
